Economist, a social scientist who specializes in theoretical or applied economics. Since economics requires judgment, intuition, experience and other subjective qualities, the economist requires art as well as science and is an 'artist' as well as a scientist. Economists are usually concerned with policy as well as with analysis, and they usually evolve value-judgments which reflect theft opinion. As with other social scientists, an economist's personal opinions need to be distinguished from his analytical skill and judgment.
